Personalized gifts

I like giving personalized gifts for presents.  Most of the people that I give presents to seem to really enjoy getting a practical gift that is personalized just for them.  There is a great website that I’ve found called www.PersonalizationMall.com that has hundreds of different items that you can buy and personalize.

I’ve ordered a personalized barbeque apron for my hubby for Father’s Day for our baby to give him as his very first Father’s Day gift.  My hubby loves to cook on the grill, and I know he will be thrilled!  I’ve also ordered a personalized frame that I’m going to put a surprise professional photo of the baby and me inside.

Now I expect the campaigns will get more negative.

Presidential election campaigns always get very negative once it becomes clear who is actually running.  I know that the candidates claim that they abhor the negative ads, but the negative ads flourish and draw so much controversy and attention that it makes me nauseous just to even think about how many negative ads we are going to have to tolerate this election year!  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if television stations refused to run them!

Helping the earthquake victims

I have a neighbor who loves to play backgammon.  I never learned to play the game, but it looks like a lot of fun.  Today my neighbor was telling me that he likes to play backgammon over the Internet.  She told me that there is an Internet gaming company called Backgammon Masters that has launched a campaign that is designed to raise money to help the victims of China’s recent earthquake.  The company hosts various online gambling games, which includes blackjack and backgammon that are very popular around the world, and they have announced that for the next month that for every $1 their customers pay to play in one of their special backgammon or blackjack tournaments on their site they will donate $5 towards the earthquake relief fund being administered by UNICEF.  In addition, all of the prize money will be donated to to cause.

Apparently this decision was precipitated by a competitor doing a similar program of matching funds dollar for dollar.  Backgammon Masters decided to “up the ante” by donating more.  One of the reasons that Backgammon Masters chose to help this cause is because many of their backgammon players originate from that part of the world.  Maybe that will inspire other companies to hold fundraising events too!

My neighbor offered to teach me how to play, and she is going to come over one evening this weekend to try to teach me!

“Good game”

I heard Hillary’s speech last night, and I am frankly impressed how gracefully and tactfully she was handling the news that Obama has enough delegates to get the Democratic Presidential nomination.  It looked and sounded to me like she was saying “good game.”  I was taught as a child, that when you lose a competition, you need to be a good sport and say “good game.”  You don’t have to make a big deal out of who won or lost, you simply say “good game.”  That seemed to me what Hillary said last night.  I am really surprised that so many people are making a huge deal over how she did not “acknowledge” that she lost.  It seemed to me that is exactly what she was saying.  It’s too bad so many people can’t understand grace and tact.

I admire Hillary’s endurance, her spunk, and her good sportsmanship.  Good game.
