Coupons are a good way to stretch that shrinking dollar!

With the cost of living increasing (apparently exponentially!) every method of stretching that shrinking dollar needs to be explored and utilized if at all possible.  So, I use coupons as much as I can in every aspect of my consumer activities.  I already clip coupons every weekend from the Sunday newspaper, and use them every time I go grocery shopping.

I’ve just found out that in addition to clipping coupons from my local newspaper, I can get even more coupons online.  There is an online coupon site called bestonlinecoupons.com that has hundreds of merchants and thousands of coupons, discounts, and promotional offers and promotion codes all designed to save the consumer money.  The website is free, and it is broken down into 19 different categories to make it easier to use.  The categories I’m most likely to use from that site is office supplies for our home office, toys and games for our baby, and gifts and flowers for our gift giving needs.

Using this site, I’ve found that there is $200 in average savings by booking hotels and flights together when booking a vacation, and we definitely will be taking advantage of that the next time we fly somewhere!

Neglected dogs

I was reading in the local newspaper that more than 30 neglected/abused sled dogs from Montana were going to be coming to Maine. They are being released to a Portland lawyer, who is the father of the man accused of abusing/neglecting them. The newspaper did not indicate if the dogs were going to be released to foster homes, or if all of them were going to be kept by the lawyer at his residence.

Stories about animal neglect and cruelty make my blood boil! I hope that the man who abused the dogs has “the book” thrown at him. I hope he spends time in jail, and I hope that he is never allowed to own any animals again as long as he lives. (Can you tell I like animals?)
