Refurbished copiers – good as new

I’ve always had good luck with refurbished machines.  Quite a long time ago I bought a refurbished all-in-one fax-copier-scanner-printer and it lasted for years and years.  I never had a moment’s trouble with it, and when I finally stopped using it the reason was that I could no longer buy ink for it!  The machine itself was a workhorse!

So when I found out that my hubby’s office manager was thinking about buying a couple of new copiers for their office, I suggested to him that they look into buying slightly Used Copiers.  The website www.copiersrefurbished.comsells refurbished copiers at 75% -90% below the Manufactured Suggested Retail Price.  They come with the same guarantee/warranty as the brand new printers come with, which includes a 90 day complete parts and labor warranty on the entire machine and a two year limited warranty.  The company gets their slightly used stock from repossessions, sales demo models, and early lease returns.  They provide financing, and you can lease the machine instead of buying it if you prefer.  At the end of the lease term, you can buy the machine for $1.00 if you want it.

They provide free shipping to any street level office within the 48 contiguous states.  They do charge a transportation fee of $200 to ship to Canada.  They don’t charge a sales tax unless the receiving business resides in Minnesota (although you should check with your accountant on whether or not you will have to be paying any sales and use tax on your income tax form in the spring!)  Their website says there are a few exceptions in some major metro areas.  They will coordinate a local service contract anywhere in the United States and Canada.

They have two hundred seventy four copy machines available for sale on their website; they carry Canon, Ricoh, Toshiba, Konica, Minolta, and Sharp copiers.  They usually ship the copier out within forty eight hours of receiving the order.

Supreme Court rules in favor of Guantanamo Bay inmate

I was reading the BBC website about a story about the Supreme Court and a Guantanamo Bay inmate that has challenged why he has been held in Guantanamo Bay without a trial for so long, being classified as an “enemy combatant.”  Apparently this man has proven to the Supreme Court that he is NO an “enemy combatant” and the US is going to have to release him.  Of course, many people are upset about this; I happen to feel that these people should be given some kind of trial, not just thrown into what is essentially a prison of war camp.  I think it is shameful what the US has done during this war.  We CLAIM that we don’t use torture, but we all know torture is used.  Sometimes it is easy to understand how many people can hate the American country.

Online scrapbooking

One of my sisters LOVES to scrapbook.  There is never a family gathering that we go to where she doesn’t bring at least six scrapbooks she has put together since the LAST family gathering of special family moments of her, her hubby, and her kids that she wants to share with the entire family.  Sharing the scrapbooks is a fun way to see pictures of her family doing things during the year with some extra cute embellishments and text to narrate the story.  Scrapbooking certainly livens up picture sharing!  I can vividly recall times at the office when someone would come into the office with newly developed photos of their baby to show off and so many people would try to run and hide to escape having to stand around and pretend to be impressed by how cute the baby is!

At least with scrapbooks, one can appreciate the time and effort and creativity of the person putting it together, trying to make it look special.  Looking through a well made scrapbook takes the tedium and humdrum right out of looking at pictures!

Scrapbooking apparently has entered the era of the Internet now, thanks to a cute little website by www.smilebox.com.  Smilebox’s website allows the user to upload their pictures and turn them into great looking scrapbook images, post cards, slideshows, ecards, and greeting cards.  The service is completely free to use, and you can email the results, blog, or print them.

Up to now, I’ve just been taking pictures of the baby and organizing them by date, without really doing anything special with them.  I’ve seen how expensive all of the scrapbook supplies cost at the craft store!  I’ve gone up and down those aisles a few times; thinking about starting scrapbooking, but the cost has always scared me away.  Now that I’ve found this website, I think that I’m going to go through the pictures and start my own little scrapbooking adventure!

George Carlin

Well, today’s big news event is the sad news of the passing of the great comedian George Carlin. He was 71 years old, and from what I understand, he died of cardiac arrest. This was not sudden like Tim Russert, however, he went to the hospital because he wasn’t feeling well and then died later.

I remember seeing George Carlin do some routines on television a long time ago, he was one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever watched. I was reading that some of his jokes resulted in some of the larger edicts being passed down about what language can be used on television during what hours of the day, so he must have had a significant impact on society!

A Web design service

I received an email from a friend telling me that she found a Small Business Web Design service on the Internet and she wanted me to check it out and tell her what I learned and how I felt about it.  I guess the fact that she knows that I’m home on maternity leave makes her think that I just lay around the house all day watching television and eating chocolate bonbons.  I wonder if she’s related to my hubby’s boss?  It seems that almost everyone around me thinks that taking care of a baby is a “nothing to it” leisure past time that only takes a few minutes a day!  They don’t realize that it is a more-than-full time job with few to no breaks.  When one leaves the house every day to go to their “paid job” they at least get a coffee break in the morning, a lunch break, and a coffee break in the afternoon where they can sit down, put their feet up and RELAX for a few minutes without worrying about a thing in the world!

But I digress.  As good a friend as I am (and knowing how ditzy my friend is) I agreed to check it out.  The company is called ebizwebpages.  Of course, they have a website at www.ebizwebpages.com.  They offer software programs that make it easy to build web pages.  They DO NOT provide the domain name, or web hosting, the consumer has to provide that on their own.  The software program is an easy to use program that guides the consumer through the entire process of building their website.  The consumer can add their own text, upload their own images, and customize it any way that suits their fancy, and have their web page done in as little as fifteen minutes.

This company charges a monthly fee for their software program, and offers customer support if the customer has any questions or problems.  They have links on their website where the interested consumer can download a ten-day free sample to see if they would really be interested in signing up for the service.
