Financial health website

Consolidate debt is a frequent piece of advice that I hear people give to each other.  That seems to be the “pat” answer to just about any financial crisis.  But consolidating debt might NOT be the answer to every financial problem!  Before I were to consider doing anything like debt consolidation I’d be taking a look at a cool website called bills.com/iq/.  The bills.com/iq/website has a tool that helps you to determine how financially fit you are.  It does not require any kind of registration, and it is free to use.  It asks you questions about your finances, goals, plans, etc and after you have answered them all it tells you how financially fit you are.  It gives you a grade (mine was 91%, an “A”) and then it gives you tips and advice on how to improve your financial position.

The topics covered include life insurance, investments such as 401k plans, savings for kids’ college (529 plans) and asks about credit card debt and your mortgage and when you plan to retire.  It really takes a lot of information and gives the results in an easy to understand format, I recommend using the site if you want to see how financially fit YOU are!

I really liked the amphicar

From time to time I see an amphicar parked in a lot, or driving down the road.  I always gawk at it as long as I can and say out loud “what a cool car, I wish I had one!”  Alas, they were only built in the 1960’s and there were only about 4,000 of them built.  So, they are a little bit hard to come by!  I understand that they didn’t go very fast on the water, only about 7mph, but I don’t care – the entire concept is just so cool!  A car that can go on land or on water.  Of course, a hovercraft does the same thing, and I’d love to have a hovercraft that had a cabin on it with a heater and air conditioner so I could use it like a car, but take it over mud or ice or snow or water.  That would just be so great!
