Online chat rooms

My niece sent me an email telling me that she has discovered a new free Online Chat room.  She tells me that she is going to join it and see if she can make some new friends around the world.  In a few years she wants to travel around the world and thinks it would be great fun to visit friends that she might make through the Internet.

I hate when that happens!

I’m usually so very organized, I’m so annoyed with myself!  I accidentally overlooked paying a bill last month!  Today I got my cable tv bill in the mail telling me that I didn’t pay last month’s bill!  I always pay the bill the day it arrives, by going to my bank’s internet billpay and authorize payment that same day!  I went to the bank’s site and saw that I didn’t pay one last month, yet my checkbook (paper version) and computer software show I did pay it.  I must have gotten distracted in the middle of my bill paying and did something to keep the payment order from being “saved.”  That is the first time that’s ever happened!  Well, I’ve gone to the bank’s site NOW and authorized the payment for both months!  That’s so embarrassing!

Have you ever wondered WHO it is that called you?

Caller ID is wonderful!  I love it, but sometimes it simply says “Out of Area” or just the name of the state that the call is coming from.  Sometimes when I get home from running errands I’ll see on my Caller ID that someone called me, but I don’t know who – all I have on the Caller ID is a phone number I don’t recognize.  So I like to go online and do a reverse phone book lookup to see who it is that called.  I also like to use the service to check any long distance calls on my phone bill that I don’t recognize, to see who it is that I (or my hubby) called.  I like to make sure that I am not charged for any calls that I didn’t make!

Gas prices expected to increase, thanks to Ike!

It seems that panic is starting to sweep the country already about Hurricane Ike’s potential to damage the oil refineries in Texas, and as a response the price of gasoline is already going up!  I hope that the refineries come out of this unscathed, it will be a real hardship for people if they can’t get gasoline when they need it to go to work!  My sister called me and said that in her town most of the stations have already completely run out of gasoline!  I guess when I go out tomorrow I’d better top off my tank if I can!

Public records

My hubby’s boss sent home a message yesterday to me through my hubby that he wants me to take some time and search the public records of a guy that has been dating his oldest daughter.  There is an Internet based search engine that searches public court records; all you have to do is type in the person’s name and approximate age, and if you want to put in a state you can do that.  After a few minutes the search engine will tell you if it has found any results on that name.  What I’m annoyed about is that the website claims to be a free search engine, but it appears that once they found results they tell you that you need to register and give them money, so I am going to have to contact them and ask them how to access the “free” part of their website.
