It seems that making your own jewelry has become very popular.  I went to a beading party a few days ago with a group of friends at a local store that specializes in beads.  I was shocked when I went into the store and saw how expensive everything was!  For years I have been a big fan of “junk” or “costume” jewelry because it is cheap and it sparkles, so I could have a large variety of it.  So when I went into the store and saw how expensive the beads and hardware were to make your own you could have knocked me over with a feather!

What I especially didn’t like about the local store was that the way it was organized I had no real idea what I was looking at, and I had to ask how much everything was.  It could have been much better organized and user friendly!  I have to admit that I did enjoy the beading party, and have been looking on the Internet to see what’s available.  I found a great website called beadsofcambay.com that is one of the top wholesale bead suppliers.  They sell a huge wholesale gemstone beads, and offer discounts of up to 30% on freshwater pearls and gemstone beads but they also sell retail, so the individual can buy from their website too.   I especially liked being able to browse the website and see the prices and know what it is I’m looking at!

With all of the bad economic news that has been happening over the past several months, I don’t understand why the “experts” still insist we are not in a depression!  People are losing their jobs, consumer debt is skyrocketing, homeowners are losing their homes, and wall street has bad news almost every day.  Prices of gasoline and food and everything necessary for life are going up almost every day!  If that is not a recession, or even a depression, what the heck IS?
