I enjoy going to home tours

I love going to home tours.  Every now and then some kind of club will sponsor a home tour where people pay money to go through other people’s houses to see what the inside of their houses look like.  The money often goes to some kind of charity or good cause.  I like to go to them because it gives me the chance to get decorating ideas (and it lets me see how the wealthy people in the area live!)  There also is the chance that you might get some tasty refreshments and meet some nice people while you are at it!

Inauguration Day

What a historical day today is!  I was watching the inauguration day on television, marveling at how many people braved the cold weather to stand outside and watch the ceremony.  I hope they don’t all catch pneumonia from being out there!  Well, I sure hope now the country can get down to business and fix these problems we are having!

Bargain shopper

I like to shop  – especially when I think there is a bargain to be had!  I have always been a frugal person, and I enjoy bargain hunting!  I go to flea markets, auctions, estate sales and yard sales; looking for the best deals I can get anywhere.  I clip coupons and look for discounts, markdowns, floor models, and sales. I ought to start up a local club of frugal shoppers in my neighborhood!

Recycling solvents

I am a big fan of reduce, reuse, and recycle.  I try to encourage everyone to do everything they can to reduce their own personal pollution output.  I think that if everyone chipped in and did their parts, we could help keep this earth “livable” for a long time.  I do find, however, that there are a lot of people who resist doing anything to keep the earth clean.  Some of them even go so far as to pollute on purpose, out of some kind of defiance.  I think those people probably suffer from Oppositional Defiance Disorder or something like that.  That’s really a shame, too.

One thing that businesses can do to help is to get involved in Solvent Recovery.  Instead of just dumping their solvents and wastes, they can purchase either a Solvent Recovery System or a Waste Recovery System.  I recently learned from the nexgenenviro.com website that a lot of industries that are generally thought of as “clean” actually generate wastes that can be recycled.  I think that solvent recovery is a great idea!  I hope that more companies get actively involved in that type of recycling!

Happy New Year

We went out last night to a local New Year’s Eve Party but left right after midnight.  Hubby was starting to get one of his migraine headaches, so we came home.  Poor dear, he’s still in bed resting.  I wish he would go to the doctor and get some of that new medicine that is supposed to work on migraines!  He says that he doesn’t get them often enough to bother, but I’m not sure it’s true.  He’s blaming the headache on cheap liquor at the party; he only had one drink – a rum and coke.  He says that if they use cheap rum he gets a headache.  He said he ordered the brand of rum that doesn’t give him a headache, but they must have used a different one.  That’s too bad, and very aggravating!

I hope you have a great 2009!  I’m looking forward to a better year this year than last year was!  Of course, it’s hard to top having a baby, but I mean financially, etc!
