Fleece lined jeans

Yesterday I was shopping and was delighted to find fleece lined jeans for $19.50 in the menswear department! I love flannel lined and fleece lined jeans, and the ones I wore last winter were getting a little bit threadbare (yes, I wore them THAT MUCH!) so I bought a pair. I would have bought more, but they only had one pair in my size. I don’t know why they don’t sell great stuff like that in the ladies department – they must think that women don’t get cold! I am wearing them right now, they are nice and toasty warm! I definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a little extra warmth in the cooler seasons!

Medical advances

One of the big controversies surrounding cell stem research has been over the use of embryonic cells.  I didn’t know until recently that there are other ways to collect stem cells that can benefit the our health.  One of the processes involves collecting stem cells from menstrual blood!  Isn’t that amazing?  We can collect our own menstrual blood and ship it to a company that stores it for future use in stem cell therapies!

The company that does that is called C’elle.  You can sign up for their service and they send you a kit that you use to collect your menstrual blood, then you ship it to them where they cryo-freeze it and store it for future use.  I was reading their website, and found that on their Order Now page they are offering a limited time offer to save $200 off of their initial fees.  That makes it a very reasonable price!  On their Pricing page I found that you can order a gift certificate for someone else in any amount over $50, to help someone else you may know and love to take advantage of this new technology!  I think that the medical advances the world has been seeing are amazing, don’t you?

Planning for a birthday party

My father-in-law turns 60 next week, so my mother-in-law and I have been planning his birthday party.  There is a great little party store near us that sells a lot of great party decorations; we are planning to go shopping later today and pick out something we like.  We are thinking about having the party at my place so we can do a little bit of decorating in advance.  We’d like to keep it a surprise!

Shopping for shutters

We need new shutters for our house.  Since we live in a duplex, beside my hubby’s parents, we want to co-ordinate with them how the outside of the house is fixed up.  Last year we put new vinyl siding on the house; this year we were planning to put new shutters on it.  My mother-in-law is coming over tomorrow to sit down with me and look at different shutter styles from the larsonshutter.com website to see if there are any styles and colors that we both like.  They have a great variety of styles and colors, so I’m sure we will be able to pick out something!

Peanut recall hitting closer to home

I was reading in the local newspaper that the peanut recall has been expanded to include some snack foods sold at the local Cumberland Farms convenience stores!  The recall is for Cumby’s snacks – the hole in one snack mix and the honey roasted peanuts!  Up to now I had gotten the impression that the peanut scare was not around here!  I’m sure that we haven’t bought any of those snacks, but it really is a scary thing.  You have to wonder what foods ARE safe to eat anymore!
