Green tea

On a lark I bought a bottle of Sobe Green Tea at the convenience store today. I was thirsty and didn’t have an appetite for cola or any of the regular choices of flavored sodas. I didn’t want one of those “energy drinks” either. I just wanted something to quench my thirst and have a little flavor with it.

The store had a nice selection of the Sobe line of drinks, and I spotted a bottle of Green Tea. It was a little more expensive than the Cokes and Pepsi’s. I like some of the other green teas that I’ve tried, so I thought the Sobe might be nice.

On the front of the bottle it lists the herbal contents as guarana, ginseng and rose hips. These were not a significant difference in taste, and overall I liked the Sobe green tea and would probably buy it again.

A fun little extra by the company is the short phrase under the bottle cap. The bottle cap that I read, said simply, “Oh Boy-D Coddington.” How odd! I have no idea what that is supposed to mean!

A paradox

Healthy foods make me ill

I’m a paradox. If it is supposed to be good for you, it makes me ill. I can’t tolerate olives, or olive oil, consuming either makes me ill for days on end. You would not believe how hard it is to go out to eat nowadays because of that - so many restaurants now are trying to convert to “healthy” cooking, which involves cooking with olive oil! There have been times when I’ve been out with friends and we’ve gone into a restaurant they all want to try out and there turns out to be absolutely not one single thing on the menu I can eat - every single thing has been prepared with olive oil! And it is embarrassing to go to church pot-luck dinners and have to ask everyone if any dishes had been prepared with olives or olive oil. Of course then EVERYONE wants to know details of EXACTLY what happens when I eat it - very annoying.

And don’t even get me started on the smell of lavendar - the plant that is supposed to relax you and help you fall asleep. One whiff of that and I’m running for the bathroom to toss my cookies!

Sometimes I think my body hates me!

Peanut recall hitting closer to home

I was reading in the local newspaper that the peanut recall has been expanded to include some snack foods sold at the local Cumberland Farms convenience stores!  The recall is for Cumby’s snacks - the hole in one snack mix and the honey roasted peanuts!  Up to now I had gotten the impression that the peanut scare was not around here!  I’m sure that we haven’t bought any of those snacks, but it really is a scary thing.  You have to wonder what foods ARE safe to eat anymore!

I enjoy going to home tours

I love going to home tours.  Every now and then some kind of club will sponsor a home tour where people pay money to go through other people’s houses to see what the inside of their houses look like.  The money often goes to some kind of charity or good cause.  I like to go to them because it gives me the chance to get decorating ideas (and it lets me see how the wealthy people in the area live!)  There also is the chance that you might get some tasty refreshments and meet some nice people while you are at it!

Thanksgiving plans

We’ve been invited to hubby’s boss’s house for Thanksgiving dinner this year, and my hubby accepted the invitation.  It will be nice to go and not have to worry about making such a big meal for the holiday.  I seem to have my hands full with the baby and it is hard to get a whole lot done, now that he’s crawling around and getting into everything!   I hope they let us bring leftovers home - if not I’m going to have to get a turkey breast and cook that myself so we can have some turkey here at home for sandwiches.  As far as I’m concerned the leftovers are just as great as the original meal!
