I like those gelpacs for dishwashers

I had a coupon good for a free box of the Electrosol gelpacs for dishwashers, so I used it to buy a box of them.  This is the first time I’ve used them; I’ve always felt that they were expensive, and I have usually bought the cheapest dishwashing detergent I can find.  I have to say that I really like them a lot!  I will be clipping coupons to buy more of them, that is FOR SURE!  No measuring, no mess, you don’t have to tear open any package, or pay attention to how much powder you pour (or don’t pour.)  Very convenient, and they got my dishes just as clean as any other detergent does.  I was really surprised how quickly I got spoiled, when I run out if I can’t buy more with a coupon and have to go back to “regular” detergent I’ll be feeling cheated somehow.

New outdoor lights for camp

When we went to camp last weekend, I was noticing that the yellow bug light bulbs that we use outside at night had burnt out.  So I decided to replace them with the new CFL yellow bug lights, trying to save energy.  I take saving energy very seriously; we need to reduce our carbon footprints as much as possible.  I’ve got a baby who is going to be growing up in this polluted world, and I want all of my children and grandchildren to live in a clean world!  Anyway, I know that the CFL yellow bug lights are too tall to fit into the existing light globes that our outdoor lights have, so I want to buy new outdoor lighting  fixtures.  The ones we have are old and rusty anyway; it’s high time we replaced them.

So I’ve been looking on the Internet at the www.farreys.com website that sells a large variety of lights and lamps.  And I’m looking for outdoor lamps that have really tall globes.  I’m pleasantly surprised to say that I’ve found quite a good selection from several of the different brands that they sell.

When my hubby gets home from work tonight, I’m going to show him the  Forecast lighting, Fine Art lampsKichler lighting, Quoizel lighting, and Maxim lighting bookmarked pages that I’ve selected as the best options for our camp.

Getting ready to go to camp

Today I have to run to the grocery store and shop for the weekend at camp, and I have to do the laundry and get packed. It is a lot of work to pack up a family with a baby!

We are planning on having guests for the weekend at camp, so I have to buy extra food and plan out some special menus. The guests this weekend are my hubby’s boss, wife, and daughter, so I’m kind of excited and nervous at the same time. I’m not quite sure how to keep the daughter entertained for the weekend, I hope she brings something of her own, like a book or some video games!

I’m hoping for a good weekend, so we can do some boating.  Maybe we can teach the boss’s daughter how to water ski!

Salmonella and tomatoes

I was sorry to hear about the salmonells scare associated with tomatoes this week.  It seems that every couple of months there is another scare about something bad happening with our foods!  This type of thing happening over and over again is very distressing.  What is wrong with the quality controls that are supposed to be in place?  Shouldn’t the FDA be on top of this kind of thing?  Aren’t there inspectors to keep this type of thing from happening?

My own family has been very lucky in that we have not had any direct negative effect from these food scares, but it is still very distressing that it is constantly happening.

Puppy mills

Every now and then I see a news story on television about how someone has gotten into legal trouble for running puppy mills illegally in their back yards.  The dogs and puppies are usually in very poor health, some usually have to be put down.  That breaks my heart when I see and hear stories like that!
