A new website

My friend Linda wants to start a Personal Chef business.  She’s been doing a lot of research about it and thinks that there would be a good market for it where she lives.  She’s always loved to cook, and I have to admit that she’s never cooked a meal that I didn’t like!  I think that’s a great idea for a business for her!  So she’s in the process of getting set up with marketing and planning her service contracts, etc.

She asked me to help her to put up her website.  So I’ve arranged to get her URL for her and am now looking into the right website hosting service for her to use.

I like the webhostinggeeks.com website because they rank and rate a lot of the best hosting services.  I especially like their green webhosting reviews; I want to throw business to any company that is working proactively towards improving our environment!

I like how they explain what green webhosting is, and how it can help protect our environment.  Their list of green hosting companies shows some are wind or solar powered, some are carbon neutral, and some claim to be 300% green.  And I find it very appealing that the rates for these green website hosting companies are very reasonable.

Email from my Australian cousin

I just received an email from a cousin that lives in a very rural area of Australia.  I was so surprised to get an email from her!  The last I’d heard from her was by US Mail, and she complained that she lived in such a rural area that she could not get Internet Access!  That news alone was a big shock to me because I’ve had Internet access for such a long time; it seemed to me that she would have had Internet access for a while now too!

I love going to fairs!

web-t-shirt-outdoor-paints-9-2007This past weekend we went to a fair. As part of the fair, they had vendors selling their wares. That’s my favorite part of going to a fair; going to all of the vendors booths and seeing what kinds of cool things they are selling.

I especially like the handmade articles of clothing, the leather belts and purses and wallets and such. I also really like hand made jewelry, and decorated articles of clothing.

I went to one booth where a lady was selling things that she had painted by hand. I fell in love with a hand-painted T-shirt that she was selling, so I bought it. The hummingbird is glittery, which I think is really cool!

I’m including a picture of it to show to you. I hope you like it too! I really love it! She only had the one in my size; if she had a second one I would have bought it too, so that when this one wore out I would have another one to wear!

May Day

I always go buy some flowers at the store on May Day. Just an inexpensive bouquet and put them in a small basket to put on the dining room table. It reminds me of the May Days that I celebrated as a youth, when I lived further south and I could just pick fresh flowers and put them in baskets. Up here the flowers just aren’t ready to be picked. The flower season is way too short here! And May Day serves to remind me of that!

Steaming the kitchen floor

A few months ago I was up in the wee hours of the morning and turned on the TV set. There was an infomercial on, selling the Shark steamer cleaner. Well, our white vinyl kitchen floor seems to have some stains on it (they were there when we bought the house) and I have tried everything I could think of to get the stains out, and they just would not go away!

So, I bought the Shark steamer cleaner, thinking that this product might do the trick.

Overall, I like using it better than a mop and bucket. It would be more convenient if they had designed the cord to run up the handle instead of just coming straight out of the bottom of the unit, that is awkward.

The steamer DOES clean pretty well, but it did NOT remove the stains that I hoped it would remove. What it DID remove, however, was the shiny finish on the vinyl flooring. So now I guess I have to find a product to put the shine back to it, or just live with a dull floor.

Additionally, my kitchen is only average sized, and the water receptacle had to be filled a second time to finish the kitchen floor, which surprised me. I had expected it to be able to do the entire floor without having to refill it.
