Living statue

A few years ago my hubby and I went to Orlando for a week’s vacation.  We went to the Epcot Center for the day, and as we were walking around we saw a “living statue” of the Statue of Liberty.  There was an assistant there that was picking out people from the crowd to go stand with the statue, and he was using their cameras to snap their pictures for them.  Well, the attendant picked out my hubby and me from the crowd to stand with the statue for a picture and so we stood in front of the statue.  The “statue” grabbed both of our heads and forced us to turn and look at each other, and then pushed our faces together to make us kiss each other for the photograph.  I thought that was so funny!  It certainly made a great picture, and a very fond memory forever!

The next time we go to Orlando I hope to get some Kennedy space center discount tickets so we can to see the space center.  We keep meaning to go there, but never seem to find the time!  We have to go for a couple of weeks next time, not just one!  We plan to get the tickets from the Trustedtours.com website.  I found that they have a lot of great deals and online travel guides that I plan to use the next time we go to Orlando!

I’ve signed up for their special promotion where I can win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate by signing up for their newsletter, too.  I hope I win!

Business financing

My hubby’s boss invited us to dinner last night at One Stanley Avenue in Kingfield. Well, that is one of our favorite restaurants, so we jumped at the chance! It is a long drive to get out there, so it is a very full evening when we go to dinner there! We met up with the boss and his wife at their house and then carpooled the rest of the way, trying to save both on gasoline and the parking dilemma when we get there - the parking situation is not a happy one up there!

One of the reasons I like that restaurant so much is that they grow most of their own vegetables right there in their own garden, and only serve the vegetables that are in season.  And they have some really gourmet meals - their menu is constantly changing!   And I like the ambience, it is an old house that has been converted to a restaurant, and it simply feels so very elegant, yet it is very relaxed at the same time.  Does that even make sense?????

On the drive up, we were talking about how my hubby’s boss wants to expand his company, and is going to be looking for some small business loans to help him obtain some more with his working capital needs and his expansion plans. He asked me to spend some time on the Internet, looking for some
business loan options for him to consider.

So today I went online and found the Merchants Advisors Company website. They specialize in all kinds of business funding, including sba loans, franchise financing, and business cash advance loans. They also provide ACH processing services and credit card merchant services at a very reasonable price, so I may suggest that he switch his credit card merchant service provider while he is at it!

Just looking at photos of our NJ vacation

I am working on a scrapbook of the vacation that we had a couple of weeks ago on the New Jersey shore.  We went on a weeklong family vacation, my hubby, baby, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law along with some other in-law relatives.  We also brought along a baby-sitter to care for the baby while I went out from time to time without the baby along.  It was a big family beach vacation and family reunion rolled into one.

We found a great place to stay by using the moreyspiers.com/moreyresorts.htm website.  I was amazed to find out that there were so many things to do!   There were two different New Jersey waterparks that we went to, and we had a blast at each one!  I’d be hard pressed to choose a favorite!  We spent a lot of time at the Morey’s Piers Amusement parks because they had so many weekly different specials going on.  We saw a free concert on Monday afternoon, took advantage of some ticket specials on Tuesday and Wednesday, and saw fireworks on Friday night.  My hubby spent a lot of time on the roller coasters.  I went on a few, but I am not a big roller coaster fan, so I sat out a few rides, too and just enjoyed myself people-watching.  All in all, I was glad I went.

Great white shark scare a hoax

Last week I read a story about how the beaches on Martha’s Vineyard were closed due to a shark scare. Today I was reading on MSNBC.NBC.com that the reason they were closed was that a 60 year old man had claimed to see two large great white sharks swimming near the beach while he was working on a fishing boat. As a precaution the beaches were closed to swimmers. Upon further investigation, the authorities asked the man what boat he was working on. The man told them the name of a boat and the name of the boat owner; neither one exist. So that has been determined to be a hoax, and the man has been charged with disorderly conduct.

Man subdued by soccer team on flight

Just before I came on my blog this morning I was reading my emails and after that a page from yahoo popped up that showed a headline about an airline flight diversion involving a soccer team.  Well, of course I had to click on the story and see what was up.   From what I understand an American Airlines flight was on its way to Los Angelas from Boston when one of the passengers just totally flipped out.  He started crying and talking gibberish, then went into the restroom and stripped naked.

The coach of a soccer team that was on the flight went up the the man when he left the restroom and told him to put his clothes back on.  The naked man complied, but upon leaving the restroom he bolted to the emergency exit door and tried to open it!  Now keep in mind the plane was in flight; opening the emergency exit door while the plane is flying is NOT a good thing to do!  The man was then subdued by several members of the soccer team and then flight attendants tied him to one of the airline seats to keep him contained until the plane landed.  The plane was diverted to land in Oklahoma to remove the man, who was taken into custody by the police and taken to a psychiatric facility.

Now that’s one adventure I’m glad I missed!

An American Airlines flight from Boston to Los Angeles was diverted to Oklahoma City on Friday after a passenger stripped nude and later tried to open an emergency exit door before being subdued by members of a professional soccer team and others, the FBI said.
