Invitation to go to Monhegan Island

My hubby’s boss just called us and invited us to join him and his family for a weekend later this summer on Monhegan Island.  Good grief, I have been to Monhegan Island two times in my life, and that was two times too many!  The vast majority of the island has no electricty - I do NOT like that at all!  I NEED my electricity!  And there are no cars!  No, I take that back, I think there are two trucks to haul luggage from the ferry to the houses.  If all you want to do all day is walk around or bicycle around, or read, then that is the place for you.  Both times that I went over on the morning ferry I got seasick.  NO THANK YOU!  That is NOT the place for me!

Easy hotel reservations

Hotel reservations are easily obtained using the Internet nowadays.  Gone are the days when one had to find a travel agent to help you find the best deals on everything, or join a travel club in order to get their guidebook full of their reviewer’s rated hotels.  One of the best websites I’ve found for making easy hotel reservations for just about any popular tourist spot such as London, Paris, or even Washington DC is the Easytobook website.

When you go onto the website, you are given many different options of which country you are interested in traveling to.  Once you pick the country, then you are given the options of which city.  Once you’ve made that choice it shows you a large variety of hotels, their descriptions, reviews, and prices.  The site also lists nearby airports, hospitals, shopping centers, amusement parks, museums and other attractions to help you plan your trip.

Ms Jenn is having eyelid surgery tomorrow

My mother sent me an email to tell me that her good friend Ms Jenn is having eyelid surgery tomorrow.  For the past fifteen years Ms. Jenn has complained that the skin above her eyes has been steadily falling further and further down over her eyes.  At first she was just complaining about it because she thought it made her look old and tired.  (Well, she IS old, but doesn’t want to LOOK old!)  Recently she went to have her vision checked and she was complaining to her eye doctor that her glasses just weren’t helping her to see as well as she thought she should be able to see.  He referred her to a Detroit eyelid surgery clinic called Accents.

He told her that he felt that what she probably needed to have done was called a Blepharoplasty procedure.  That’s an eyelid rejuvenation surgery that will lift her eyelids up and improve her vision and her appearance.  The procedure should be able to be completed in only about ninety minutes, and her recovery should be fairly short.  She was told that afterwards she would only need to apply ice to the area and take Tylenol for the pain.  I don’t know why Tylenol (that stuff doesn’t work for me) and not ibuprofen, but that is what they told her.  I hope she is happy with the results!

While we were laying low I was checking out some trade show displays

Since my hubby’s boss asked me weeks ago to keep an eye out, and gather information for him about trade show displays, I thought I’d take some time yesterday and today to do a little research for him.  I found a company called Camelback Displays that sells a wide variety of trade show exhibits.

They sell some really nice looking table covers that can be customized with logos and/or graphics, and a variety of fold-up furniture like director’s chairs and bar stools and different types of tables.  They sell table top displays, presentation tools, light boxes, pipes and curtains.  They sell crowd control devices and brochure and literature holders.  They sell banner stands, and even trade show flooring!  It looks like they sell just about everything a vendor could possibly want to use at a trade show!

Rainy weekend

Well, this weekend was an overcast, damp, rainy weekend.  We had thought about going to camp, but it just is not very much fun when the weather is bad, so we decided to stay home instead.  So it was a rather lazy weekend, but we did go to the State Museum on Saturday.  We were thinking about going to the movies on Sunday, but my hubby developed a migraine headache so we ended up staying home and just spending a quiet day with the shades drawn and the noise level as low as we could keep it.

So while my hubby was recovering from his migraine I popped some microwave popcorn and watched The Princess Bride tape that I got as a gift years ago.  That is one of my favorite movies, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it!
