Just when you think you’ve heard of everything, you hear of a dating website for horse lovers! My cousin Stacy tells me that she has found out about a dating club for horse lovers and she has taken advantage of their offer of FREE sign-up to see if she might be able to meet “Mr. Right.” My hubby butted in with his “two cents” and said he thought she was more likely to meet “Mr. Ed!” (Smart aleck!)

When we finished laughing, Stacy told me that she heard about the website from a friend of hers and she decided to check it out. Stacy claims that it is a social networking group for horse lovers that want to meet other horse lovers, and it doesn’t have to just be people looking for romance, it could also be for people who just want to make new friends who share their love of horses. Besides, having an equestrian cupid might not be so awful!

Stacy has always loved horses and rides whenever she gets the chance. She’s been talking about buying her own horse someday and has started to look around to see where she could board it when she gets one. She’d love to find someone to go riding with!

We’ve been busy getting ready to spend a few weeks at camp. We’re planning to go out there this weekend and stay until mid-July. We LOVE spending the 4th of July weekend there! That is the absolutely best weekend of the year as far as lack of bugs, and nice warm weather. And of course, all of the neighbors spend a lot of their evenings setting off fireworks to celebrate their vacations! It’s a great lazy time, with nothing to do but relax and enjoy the simple things in life, and go for an occasional boat ride.

I love the rustic furniture that we have in our camp. I love it because it makes me think of simpler times, and it gives me a peaceful feeling. My favorite furniture, though rustic, has lots of cushioning to it so that it is comfortable. I don’t like anything that is too straight in the back, either. Sitting bolt upright straight reminds me of sitting in a church pew and that is NOT my idea of comfort! I love the casual feel that calls out to me “go ahead and kick off your shoes and relax.”

I also really like the “craftsman style” furniture in our year-round home. Lots of wood, but also lots of cushioning. I really like admiring the work that went into a piece of furniture.

On a lark I bought a bottle of Sobe Green Tea at the convenience store today. I was thirsty and didn’t have an appetite for cola or any of the regular choices of flavored sodas. I didn’t want one of those “energy drinks” either. I just wanted something to quench my thirst and have a little flavor with it.

The store had a nice selection of the Sobe line of drinks, and I spotted a bottle of Green Tea. It was a little more expensive than the Cokes and Pepsi’s. I like some of the other green teas that I’ve tried, so I thought the Sobe might be nice.

On the front of the bottle it lists the herbal contents as guarana, ginseng and rose hips. These were not a significant difference in taste, and overall I liked the Sobe green tea and would probably buy it again.

A fun little extra by the company is the short phrase under the bottle cap. The bottle cap that I read, said simply, “Oh Boy-D Coddington.” How odd! I have no idea what that is supposed to mean!

I was reading an article on Yahoo news that a family near Columbus Ohio was finally scared out of their house that they legally bought. They were scared out by the man who used to own it and had lost it during foreclosure. The man was stalking them, blocking their driveway with his truck, coming to their door and asking them to let him have his house back. This struggle lasted for eight years before the new family finally gave up the struggle and moved out. The previous owner has been ruled mentally ill and therefore not being punished for his actions. The story did not indicate who is living in the house now.

This is a really sad story, and it makes me wonder how many times something like this is going to happen in the future? So many people are losing their houses now; I wonder how many of them are going to “take it out” on the people who move into those houses!

Have you ever noticed the Peter Principle at work? Of course you have, you probably just did not know what it was when you were observing it! The Peter Principle is simply this: People get promoted in their jobs until they reach a level of incompetency. That is where they remain.

This is why most of the time we find ourselves dealing with incompetent people in our day to day business. The people have risen to their level of incompetence. If by chance we find someone who does their job well, they have not been promoted enough!

I was reading an article on the Time.com website about how abandoned ships are damaging the environment. That article talked about how a lot of fishing vessels that were sunk (either on purpose or accident) still having fishing gear on board and the fishing gear (nets and traps) continue to “fish” forever. The article also talked about how sunken vessels leach iron and fuels into the water, which contaminates the water and eventually enters the food chain and is consumed by humans. Another problem mentioned is how one vessel attracted an organism that ended up killing a nearby coral reef.

This is an environmental problem that needs to be addressed internationally, but little is being done. Owners of these ships are usually only fined about $100 for abandoning their ship, which is much less money than it would cost to recover the ship and have it dismantled properly. The government is taking steps to clean up the mess at the taxpayer’s expense, but I think that the shipowners need to be held more financially accountable, and not force the taxpayer to clean up THEIR mess. I think that if you can’t afford to pay the piper, then you shouldn’t go to the dance!

As part of the fair, they had vendors selling their wares. That’s my favorite part of going to a fair; going to all of the vendors booths and seeing what kinds of cool things they are selling.

I especially like the handmade articles of clothing, the leather belts and purses and wallets and such. I also really like hand made jewelry, and decorated articles of clothing.

I went to one booth where a lady was selling things that she had painted by hand. I fell in love with a hand-painted T-shirt that she was selling, so I bought it. The hummingbird is glittery, which I think is really cool!

I’m including a picture of it to show to you. I hope you like it too! I really love it! She only had the one in my size; if she had a second one I would have bought it too, so that when this one wore out I would have another one to wear!

I’ve always been amazed at how many people in this area love to play bingo! It seems that there are several clubs and organizations that hold bingo games every week to raise money for their club, or for charity. I haven’t played bingo in years, but my mother-in-law loves to go out every Thursday night to the Knights of Columbus hall for her Bingo night.

I guess it comes as no surprise that bingo is also a game widely played on the Internet. I was recently reading an interesting article about bingo on the gameon bingo website. The story was about a bingo scam that was discovered in Sunderland, where it is alleged that the caller fixed the game so that his girlfriend could win the big prize. It seems that the girlfriend was also an employee of the organization that was holding the game. I was really surprised because I would have thought that employees would not be allowed to play the game! I guess I’m just naive that way.

I was so surprised when I turned on the news and heard that Maine has finally legalized gay marriage! I thought that Maine was liberal in many ways, but I also thought that it was too conservative for that! After all, there have been many times in the recent past when the people of Maine tried to get “gay rights” legalized, and if I recall correctly those rights were never passed. So it was a huge surprise that gay marriage is now legal! I wonder how this is going to “go over” in the conservative segment of the population! It will be interesting to watch and see what happens!

I always go buy some flowers at the store on May Day. Just an inexpensive bouquet and put them in a small basket to put on the dining room table. It reminds me of the May Days that I celebrated as a youth, when I lived further south and I could just pick fresh flowers and put them in baskets. Up here the flowers just aren’t ready to be picked. The flower season is way too short here! And May Day serves to remind me of that!

As the information age matures, there will be more demand for domain names and webhosting. I think it will be very interesting to see how this develops as time goes on. I know that more people are turning to the Internet for information, research, social networking, and shopping. I think it is amazing to learn about products and services that a few years ago I would not have known about at all! The Internet truly does make the world smaller; making so many more things within easy reach to anyone who has a computer and Internet access!

It seems to me that more and more of my friends and acquaintances are interesting in creating their own websites. It just seems like a good way to get the word out about whatever you are interested in. Many of the websites are about sharing interests about things like geneaology, or interests like clubs for a type of classic car, or breed of dog. What a huge variety is out there!

As the Internet grows, there will be more people needing to learn about there webhosting options. A great place to learn about those options is the webhostinggeeks.com website. They review and rank many of the leading webhosting services, making it easier for the consumer to decide which service best fits their needs.

DH is busy out in the garage working on the car and it doesn’t sound like he’s going to be through any time soon. Guess I’ll pop a movie in the DVD player to keep me company while I sort through the mail and pay bills.

We have the Indiana Jones collection and I haven’t watched any of those for YEARS, so it sounds like a fun way to pass time and get my paperwork chores done at the same time!

I’m glad DH is handy with the cars. He does a lot of the maintenance on all our vehicles and saves us a ton of money by not having to take it to a garage and pay those kinds of prices. Plus, I think he enjoys working with the tools and getting his hands dirty!
