My friend Linda wants to start a Personal Chef business. She’s been doing a lot of research about it and thinks that there would be a good market for it where she lives. She’s always loved to cook, and I have to admit that she’s never cooked a meal that I didn’t like! I think that’s a great idea for a business for her! So she’s in the process of getting set up with marketing and planning her service contracts, etc.

She asked me to help her to put up her website. So I’ve arranged to get her URL for her and am now looking into the right website hosting service for her to use.

I like the webhostinggeeks.com website because they rank and rate a lot of the best hosting services. I especially like their green webhosting reviews; I want to throw business to any company that is working proactively towards improving our environment!

I like how they explain what green webhosting is, and how it can help protect our environment. Their list of green hosting companies shows some are wind or solar powered, some are carbon neutral, and some claim to be 300% green. And I find it very appealing that the rates for these green website hosting companies are very reasonable.

I remember when I was in seventh grade we had to take music in school. One of our assignments was to write a song. I wish I had a copy of it now! I remember I called it The Dance of the butterflies!” We had to write it on sheet music and perform it in class. My teacher could not believe I had written it myself. She didn’t accuse me of stealing it from someone, but she was very impressed. She kept the music. I wonder if she ever did something with it herself and claimed credit for it!

I really like the Land of Lakes little cheese rectangles that you can snack on. I think that they are a combination of Colby and Jack cheese. Very tasty. The only problem is that the package is so hard to open! It has a little red zip-strip that is supposed to make it easy to open, but I usually get frustrated with it and end up using a pair of scissors to open it. And that rather defeats the idea of it being a convenient little snack. I’d like to be able to just toss it in a lunch box and take it with me when I run errands, but I usually end up taking a mini-bon bell cheese instead because they are easier to open!

The poor guy who was struck in the head by the boat propellor is still in critical condition. The doctors say that it is a miracle he didn’t die instantly! A quarter-inch one way or the other would have killed him! As it is, he now has a metal plate in his head for the rest of his life, and he will have a slow recovery. They say that the part of his brain that was damaged is not one that is “used” for anything “important” so he should be able to function fine after he recovers. That is good news for sure! I bet he never tries something that stupid again!

We came home from camp early this weekend. The baby was cranky and the weather was rainy, so we decided to pack it up and come home.

It’s a good thing that we came home when we did because when we got home we found that a tree had been struck by lightning and fallen up against the house. So we needed the time here to clear up that mess. It would have been awful to come home late Sunday night to find that when we both had to get up early the next morning! Isn’t it funny how life throws you a curveball sometimes! Thankfully there wasn’t any serious damage to the house, just cosmetic stuff.

We had no sooner finished cleaning up that mess than we got a phone call from the boss that he wants us to help teach his daughter how to create her own website. So she’ll be coming over tomorrow and I’ll be working with her, showing her the ropes.

I’ll be helping her to get her own domain, and help her to decide which webhosting service to use. I’ll direct her to take a look at the webhostingrating.com website and read a few of their articles about webhosting and their reviews of which webhosting services would best fit her needs. I think that they are a good resource to turn to when looking at getting a new webhost. They review hundreds of services, not just a few, so it may take a while!

Then I’ll give her a crash course on using Front Page, and creating a blog

There was a terrible accident on the lake this weekend. A couple of hot shot teenage boys decided to race each other – one on a jet ski, the other in a motor boat. The jet ski was winning, but the idiot who was driving it decided to cut in front of the boat. I don’t know why, maybe to flaunt the fact that he was the winner! But the skier lost control and fell off of the jet ski and the boat ran right over him!

The propeller of the boat hit the skier in the head. He is miraculously still alive, but in serious condition at the hospital. We don’t know if he is going to be all right or not. I have to wonder if these kids were drunk or under the influence of drugs! I can’t believe how stupid these kids can be!

One of the things that concern parents when they live so far from the big city is whether or not their children can get a good education. Especially in the areas where so many schools are cutting back on their budgets. Subjects such as Drama and Music education, along with sports programs often see the big budget cuts in favor of the basic “3 Rs” that are the core curriculum of so many schools.

I think that the children need to have some enrichment added to their lives, some culture, some lessons that go beyond the basics. So I’m always pleased to learn of other ways that children can learn the things that are so often overlooked, or cut, from the school’s curriculum. One of the greatest musical performance services that I’ve heard about from my friend Kevin, who is a music teacher in a local high school is the Music Education Resource website that includes services a variety of ways to help the kids to compose music, as well as to play it.

It is really hard to keep the lawn mowed and looking good because the lawn is so wet all of the time! Although it is possible to mow a wet lawn, it just doesn’t look as nice. A lot of people are acting cranky, too, from lack of sunlight I guess! And everyone that I know that suffers from arthritis has been telling me that they have been suffering a lot from the rainy weather. We don’t get a long summer here, so we are really feeling the pain of all of this rain!

Just when you think you’ve heard of everything, you hear of a dating website for horse lovers! My cousin Stacy tells me that she has found out about a dating club for horse lovers and she has taken advantage of their offer of FREE sign-up to see if she might be able to meet “Mr. Right.” My hubby butted in with his “two cents” and said he thought she was more likely to meet “Mr. Ed!” (Smart aleck!)

When we finished laughing, Stacy told me that she heard about the website from a friend of hers and she decided to check it out. Stacy claims that it is a social networking group for horse lovers that want to meet other horse lovers, and it doesn’t have to just be people looking for romance, it could also be for people who just want to make new friends who share their love of horses. Besides, having an equestrian cupid might not be so awful!

Stacy has always loved horses and rides whenever she gets the chance. She’s been talking about buying her own horse someday and has started to look around to see where she could board it when she gets one. She’d love to find someone to go riding with!

I just received an email from a cousin that lives in a very rural area of Australia. I was so surprised to get an email from her! The last I’d heard from her was by US Mail, and she complained that she lived in such a rural area that she could not get Internet Access! That news alone was a big shock to me because I’ve had Internet access for such a long time; it seemed to me that she would have had Internet access for a while now too!

I love the rustic furniture that we have in our camp. I love it because it makes me think of simpler times, and it gives me a peaceful feeling. My favorite furniture, though rustic, has lots of cushioning to it so that it is comfortable. I don’t like anything that is too straight in the back, either. Sitting bolt upright straight reminds me of sitting in a church pew and that is NOT my idea of comfort! I love the casual feel that calls out to me “go ahead and kick off your shoes and relax.”

I also really like the “craftsman style” furniture in our year-round home. Lots of wood, but also lots of cushioning. I really like admiring the work that went into a piece of furniture.

On a lark I bought a bottle of Sobe Green Tea at the convenience store today. I was thirsty and didn’t have an appetite for cola or any of the regular choices of flavored sodas. I didn’t want one of those “energy drinks” either. I just wanted something to quench my thirst and have a little flavor with it.

The store had a nice selection of the Sobe line of drinks, and I spotted a bottle of Green Tea. It was a little more expensive than the Cokes and Pepsi’s. I like some of the other green teas that I’ve tried, so I thought the Sobe might be nice.

On the front of the bottle it lists the herbal contents as guarana, ginseng and rose hips. These were not a significant difference in taste, and overall I liked the Sobe green tea and would probably buy it again.

A fun little extra by the company is the short phrase under the bottle cap. The bottle cap that I read, said simply, “Oh Boy-D Coddington.” How odd! I have no idea what that is supposed to mean!

I was reading an article on Yahoo news that a family near Columbus Ohio was finally scared out of their house that they legally bought. They were scared out by the man who used to own it and had lost it during foreclosure. The man was stalking them, blocking their driveway with his truck, coming to their door and asking them to let him have his house back. This struggle lasted for eight years before the new family finally gave up the struggle and moved out. The previous owner has been ruled mentally ill and therefore not being punished for his actions. The story did not indicate who is living in the house now.

This is a really sad story, and it makes me wonder how many times something like this is going to happen in the future? So many people are losing their houses now; I wonder how many of them are going to “take it out” on the people who move into those houses!
